With lots being written about mufflers (Monza or otherwise) I Have a
question of sorts.
I've replaced the entire system on my BGT (74) with one bought from my
local LBC . The last piece to be replaced was the mid muffler which a
shop had put on and turned out to be way too restrictive. The one from
the LBC supplier is made by Walker and is a MGB specific muffler.
It sounds great (to me) and improved performance dramatically over the
one installed by the cowboy at the muffler shop.
The problem ,if one, is the sound does not come from the tail pipe but
rather the muffler. Its' as if the muffler were a hollow box with no
sound proofing and all the sound is emanates from it. Go to the tailpipe
and all is quiet. My first thought was I had a leak, but checking all is
tight.
Is this normal for the MGB ?
