Sorry but the DMV inspectors and number verifiers in cal are hip to the ease of
changing numbers on mg's and of all the manufacturer's codes out there you will
find a surprising percentage that dosen't have to look this one up.

The assumption you make is that any DMV can translate a VIN into what
represented to the company. Without any evidence, I personally doubt it.
