Depends on whether you mean the "home market" (UK) or North America.
Read a page earlier in Clausager's "Original MGB". "To increase the
ageing MGB in the North American markets, the 'Limited Edition' roadster
(also known as the 'Special') was launched in 1979, continuing into
1980. This model was originally sold throughout North America, but at
the end of 1979 it was withdrawn from California (as were all MGBs) and
so 1980 models were sold only in the 49 states and Canada. As no fewer
than 6682 cars were built, one questions the description 'limited'! The
cars were produced from March 1979 (car number 492071), the last
Californian car was 500344 (December 1979) and the last Federal car of
all was 523000 (August 1980)..."
