D: There is a gizmo in the side of your transmission called a 'right angle drive' that turns the speedo cable. It's a couple of gears and a small bushing. It often goes bad, and can cause the speedo cable to 'wind up' and let go, thus giving you a hop. It's simple to get to and relatively easy to replace; it's on the passenger side of the tranny, near the front. Hope that helps. Corey 75 MGB 'Rags' |
