The advantages of Halogen over conventional lamps are that they are brighter,
more efficient and last longer.
But they don't seem to last longer do they. Well you have to read the
fine print. They last longer than a conventional bulb of similar output
intensity. If you could find a conventional headlight that had the same
initial light output to a halogen headlight the halogen headlight would
indeed last longer.
