Hi All:
Directions to Allen Pond British Car Day are vague and some
suggestions follow:
From North of Baltimore take 95 south to Baltimore. 95 splits into
95 and 895, take 895. Follow 895 through Harbor Tunnel (have $1 ready on
south side) which gives you 2 ways to get to Bowie.
1. Take exit 6 to rt.97 (sign may say Annapolis/Bay Bridge).
Follow 97 south which splits into 97 and 3/301. Take rt. 3/301- do not
continue on 97! Continue on 3/301 south until it crosses rt.50. Take 50
west(right) to rt.197 and go S or E to signs for show, or you could stay on
3/301 past 50 and make R onto 197 and look for signs to show. Toss up
either way, follow other LBCs
2. (personal favorite) Take exit 4 to Baltimore-Washington Parkway
South. Follow S on BW Parkway to rt. 197 (exit after 198). Take exit and
make Left onto 197 at stop. Follow 197 and when you pass rt.50 continue on
197 and watch for show signs on right.
Route 1 is a little shorter, but 2 is more scenic, shady, with less
truck and higher speed traffic. Altogether a more peaceful ride with a
minimum of traffic lights and some petrol stations and fast food along 197
if needed.
The most obvious meeting place is the large stage where the awards
are presented. Cant be missed. There is also a park small concession
building by the lake where boats are rented and rest rooms are located.
This is more central but can get a little crowded. BTW beer will not be
sold this year but you are permitted to bring your own. If its hot bring
plenty of iced drinks as lines can be long and supplies dubious.
See you at Bowie,

68 MGC (the not so pretty one)
