Jeremy,
The reason for the special reamer is that the upper and lower bushings on
many cars are slightly different diameters. If you use an adjustable reamer,
you may very well be able to get the right ID, but you have to do each
bushing as a separate operation. When you use the special tool, both are
reamed at the same time and HAVE THE SAME CENTERLINE.
If your Bently uses the same diameter bushing on the top and bottom AND your
tool has a long enough cutting area to do them together, in one operation,
you don't need the special tool.
My son's Midget has different diameter bushings, therefore the proper way to
ream the bushings will be with the special tool.
Still looking for someone with that tool!
