What's happening to me? In a sudden burst of practicality (sanity?) I
decided to sell my '77 to finance a re-paint of my GT, and other assorted
projects with my other roadster. You may have seen my note...
Today was the first truly beautiful day in weeks, and I had the three cars
parked out in the driveway. Whilst I tended to my suburban tasks, a gent in
a nicely restored '70 Corvette slowed down, waved and asked - "Any of those
for sale?"
Why yes, indeed.
He took one look and bought the car on the spot!
What have I done?
Now, it's off to find a reputable shop to re-paint my GT, which has
contracted some very strange manner of affliction with it's paint.
Now, 16 years old (the paint job)- it was a great paint job, until two years
ago, when the entire car broke out in what can best be decribed as blisters.
Thousands. From the glass line down. All in the know who have looked at this
believe it's something no-good goin' on between the body and the paint.
(Gasp!) Ergo, the car will have to be stripped. Fortunately, there's no body
work required, so I'm hoping to get this in at a reasonable price...
"Cause I'm still lookin' for an AMCO console - y'know, '60/'70 North
American factory option....and a speaker grill for same? Anyone?
And, while I'm at it, think I'll treat the roadster to a new exhaust system,
maybe even from the header back. Any thoughts on best combinations? My GT
has a Stebro, and it sounds so sweet...
So, I think I'm taking the trauma of selling an MG rather well. Devotees of
the 3 Stooges may understand the claim, "Moe, Larry - Cheese, Moe, Larry -
Cheese, Nyuk, Nyuk"
OK, so maybe not...
