The symptoms are that:
1) All plugs carbon foul in a matter of miles.
2) Lots of black smoke at idle.
Things I have done:
1) Rebuilt the Zenith per specifications
a. The float does float (no holes).
b. Installed meetering needle that came with the kit.
2) Replaced the mixture needle (44A).
3) Installed hotter plugs (N12Ys).
4) New air filter.
5) Adjusted the timing.
6) Set the mixture needle to maximum lean.
Other items:
1) The fuel pump is mechanical.
2) The choke is mechanical and is functional.
3) The exhaust IS NOT STOCK! I do not know what type it is (besides rusty).
4) Emission control system was stripped from car.
Any Ideas on what to try next would be greaaaatly appreciated.
