As it happens, there are. One is even by Porter, and called (something
like) Guide to Purchase and DIY Restoration of the MGB. There are two
editions. The body repair section of the first edition concentrates on
sill replacement and sheet metal repair. The second edition has reduced
the amount of repair info, to make space for info on rebuilding a car
using a new Heritage shell. If you plan to do repairs, try to get the
first edition. I bought the second edition, and was disappointed by all
the Heritage shell info. I got a first edition just a few months ago by
calling Eric Waiter Assoc. in New Jersey. They still had copies.
There's another book on DIY B restoration put out by Practical Classics;
the photography is very poor and as a result I can't recommend it. If you
have a GT, Practical Classics is currently in the midst of a restoration
series on a rusty GT, and back issues are available. The photography in
the magazine is OK.
