Joe,
Car production numbers and corresponding engine numbers can be found,
for those who have WWW access on:
http://reality.sgi.com/employees/rck/mg/mgb-prodution.html
Based on those numbers I would say that your engine is built in late
'65 or early '66. It certainly is a 5-main bearing engine, as the
18GB denotes, and the engine came originally with an O/D gearbox (and
electronic tach drive) .
This information made me aware of a question myself:
MGB chassis no: GHN3L/100469, engine no: 18 GB-RU-H-6166;
I think this engine came original with the car, which is then model
'66 (and not as I assumed, and was informed at purchase, '67).
Anyone comments on this? (concerning production month etc.)
Thanks,
Bert Otten
