> ... and I was wondering, what's the opinion out there about originality?
I think the viability of staying "original" depends upon the
condition of the car when you purchase it. In my case, the '79 B I bought
would cost 3-4 times what it is worth to restore to original condition, and
it still has the original paint job (I think). With a wife and 2 kids, I am
just glad to be able to drop the top and cruise to work. Maybe when I can
afford to find a prime candidate for "originality" will I then seriously
consider your question.
Before I get blasted, let me recognize that I KNOW THERE ARE PURISTS
lurking on this list. I respect you and, if I had the cash, would love to
join your ranks. It is the PURISTS for ORIGINALITY that keep the MG
mystique alive - even in the face of the MGF, Miata, etc. I would never
win any shows with my car, but I look at the ORIGINAL MGs and ponder,
............ someday.
