Amazed at the reports of cold weather.
Sorry about the lack of LBC content, but ...
In Melbourne Australia, I have just come in from a swim in the pool,
prior to commencing another day in mid 20 degree (Celsius) temps, I
have just heard that tomorrows temperature will be 35 degrees, with an
overnight low of 18 degrees.
As I look out from my office, over the Albert Park lake, where in just
a few weeks, the 1996 Formula 1 Grand prix will be held, I am stunned
by the newspaper reports and TV footage of the cold snap in the US.
In Chicago, fireman had to set a hydrant on fire to thaw it enough to
enable them to put out a fire in a house!
We do not get those temperature extremes here. Melbourne maybe, just
mytbe gets to a temperature below 0 C once a year. The max in summer
is around 40C, with real temperatures averaging 20 for most of the
year. Ideal roadster country. For most of the past year, we have
even managed to have the rain overnight, leaving the days clear.
Snow happens maybe once or twice a year, if at all. I live 150M above
Melbourne, in the hills, and that is the only place in Melbourne that
gets snow, and then it melts within a few hours.
Admittedly, in the outback, temperatures can top 50C, and you have to
see what this does to the interior of a car to believe it.
How does business cope with temperatures like I see on the news.? How
do people get to work? I have followed the thread on heaters, and
venture to say that if it gets that cold, why not heat the garage, and
not fiddle about with the other stuff?
