The choke may be the least of your problems. First make sure that the thing
will idle around 800. He may be covering up for a bad carb, leaking
manifold, or other problems. It actually sounds like the choke is working.
Why does he idle at 2000 when warm?

The 1980 MGB I'm thinking of buying has a high (3500 rpm) idle when
cold. I noticed two screws missing from the choke housing.
Questions:
a. am I right in assuming this is causing the high idle? It
slows to ~2000 when warm.
b. where can you get replacements? (the Roadster Factory does
not stock).
Thanks for the help.
