A couple of years ago my '74 B would intermittently start forcing gasoline
into the charcoal canister and out into the engine compartment. I originally
thought the carbs were to blame but subsequently found that on hot days, the
pressure would build up in the gas tank (non-vented, except through the
canister) and the fuel would find its way into the vapor lines and like a
barometer, work its way out through the canister.
I solved this problem by drilling a small hole in the gas cap to let it
vent. I have never had fuel leaks since. By the way, I use Grose Jets in my
HIF-4 carbs and don't have any problems with them.
