Hey, what about one of those prismatic/periscopy-type thingies, like the
Fulton Traffic Light Minder (or whatever they were called) that were so
common an accessory in the 1950s? These were designed for the very
purpose y'all describe, although I doubt they worked very well if your
car is also equipped with the accessory external windshield visor. ;-)
