My front carb has suddenly decided to stop retaining damping fluid (now
that I finally got the "right stuff", it is dumping it).
If I remove the piston and dashpot cover from the carb, and put fluid in
it... when I press the piston up into the cover damping oil squirts out
around the needle (!)
Is there an O-ring or something I might have broken, or have I poked a
hole in the center section (where you pour the oil)? I may have been a
bit rough with it when removing a fixed needle and fixed needle adapter a
couple weeks ago.
Basically I would like to fix and not purchase a new one.
The car seems to be running well without fluid in the front carb (the
rear one is retaining just fine), except when all three dashpot cover
screws disappeared on the way back from an autocross last weekend. Then
it got a might unhappy.
