Jay,
Read your message about attending the Memphis British Car Fest. By all means
register and have a good time. You can register the day of the show or go
Friday evening to the hotel and preregister and enjoy their great
hospitality activties.
I belonged to the club until we moved to Ohio. It's a qualtiy show made even
more interesting this year by the addition of the AMGBA convention. They are
giving away a MGB through a raffle for a local charity. They have tons of
door prizes available only to the participants. They always have a large
number of vendors who come from all over the MidSouth and other areas.
With regard to the possibilty of your car winning a trophy. I've always said
that you can't really enjoy a show to it's fullest potential unless you are a
participant with your car in line with all the other MGBs. I liken it to
being either ".....on the outside looking in or the inside looking around"
You will receive recognition for all your hard work from all the guests.
It's always nice to be one of the top three in class and hear your name
called at the awards banquet, but you can still have a great time if that
doesn't happen. This show in their judging emphasizes 'originality and
preparation (cleanliness in detail).
I'll be there helping some friends as a vendor. Come by and introduce
yourself and then tell me what you think of the show.
The number to call in advance is: Bill Cravens, President 901/683-7195
(For those reading this message out of state, call Jim Hoffer 800/344-9683.
