In the UK the 200 or so MG dealers where chosen in a long and exhaustive
selection process run by Rover, many of them having been MG dealers in the
past. They had to show enthusiasm for and commitment to the marque and the
customer rather than the ability to sell cars. Rover believe that the car will
sell itself if the dealers provide high quality aftersales support to the
customer.

If you want an MGF in the states why not import it through a company that
specialises in this, its how most American cars get to the UK - we're just to
small a market for the American manufacturers to bother about!

If Rover cannot sell the MGF profitably in the US they will not sell it. It is
widely claimed that the US market and the pricing of the MGB destroyed the
profitability of the old MG Car Company - to see 60 percent of you output at
well below cost price is suicidal. The MG brand must make a profit if Rover is
to allow it to continue, Land Rover has a profitable operation in the US so if
one of its models is cheaper than UK the others must be more expensive.

I'm sure a lot of other people will have their views on the subject....
