Hi folks,
This weekend i received a set of new throttle shafts and went
about replacing them in my '73 Midget. I'm starting to
get the feeling i need quick disconnects for my carbs :)
If you follow my foolish tirades on this list you know
that replacing the shafts was the *last* thing i was going
to do to the SU's - if it didn't work i was going to get a weber.
Anyway, i pulled the carbs and went to work on removing the
old shafts, very easy, no problem. I could not believe what
i saw!!! The shafts were worn down almost 50%! "Wow", i said
to myself, this should make a real difference. It did. With
the throttle shafts replaced on both carbs i set out to re-tune
again. I'm starting to get good at this tuning thing :) it only
took 1/2 hour to have it running quite nicely - but the real test
was still to come - how does it run after being driven for
an hour or so?? An hour or so later i was a very happy SU owner!
Sorry Weber, I'm sticking with the SU's! :)
Ok, so now i'm thinking of driving it to Albequrque this weekend...
Am i stupid or what?!?!?!? :)
Graham
Thanks again to *everyone* for the carb advice!
