Tor, how big a tyre can your spare tyre area hold? On my TR3 I'm size limited
by my spare tyre storrage compartment.
The 165R15s are a common size because of the VW bug.
If you go into other sizes make sure you have enough clearence. I put wider
tyres on the MGBGT, 185/70R15 and I sometimes get a little inner fender rub on
hard right corners with a passanger or lots of heavy stuff in the back. There
looked like there was pleanty of clearence.
If memory serves me, the 185/70R15 requires a min. 5.5 inch rim. Be sure to
check the recommended rim widths for the individual tyres when trying to decide.
