If you setup the carbs and ignition as per the factory instructions every thing
will work properly provided you are setting up a standard car.

If you are setting up a modified car you will need a modified setup, seems
logical doesn't it?

The way to define your modified setup is with a rolling road. This is the ONLY
way to get close to road driving conditions and be able to monitor what is
happening under the bonnet!

The SU book of needle profiles has over 1000 entries and is published as a
guide to what is available.

If you want to setup a car with SU's yourself be prepared to buy possibly 50
different pairs of needles at about £7 ($10?) each, thats £700 ($1000)!

And remember if you run a Weber, or similar carb, they contain at less half a
dozen different jets to control the mixture and all of these jets are available
in a variety of sizes.

A rolling road operator can afford to keep many of these items in stock, and
knows how to establish which ones will be right for you car.
