Lets see, my fuel sending unit has a minimum resistance (at full tank) of 
15 ohms ~ by Ohms law the current would be 10v/15ohms = .67 amps.  Not 
sure about the other instruments, but I would think a heat-sinked VR 
could handle it....  I guess....   The only way to know is to try it...
