MG Buffs,
I'm writing for a friend who's rebuilding his clutch master cylinder. He's
having difficulty loosening the hydraulic line from the master cylinder and
was wondering:
Is Liquid Wrench likely to help loosen the nut?
Is the nut a standard thread? For example, is he correct in turning the nut
counter-clockwise to loosen it?
Would it be unwise to heat the master cylinder or the nut in order to loosen
it?
He doesn't like the tight space where he's working, and he wants to just cut
the hydraulic line so he can get the MC out of the car and work on his
bench; would he have any trouble replacing the hydraulic line? He's cheap
and thinks he can just re-flare the remaining bit of hydraulic line rather
than buying a new line--anyone have luck doing this?
Thanks for any help or insight you can provide! I'm not on this mailing
list, so please copy any replies directly to me at rkriggs@ingr.com.
