AH! Scaborough Faire! Wonder if she's changed her way of doing
business in the last 11 years or so? Doesn't sound like it. My story;
I was just starting down the road on my MGB rebuild, so I ordered a
sill kit from Scarborough Faire. You know, outer sill, inner sill,
castle section, jacking point, jacking point reinforcement and sill
end cap. Well, a few weeks went by (this was 1984), and I got the
outer sill. I called and asked where the rest of my order was,
"backordered" was the reply. Subsequent parts dribbled at more or less
the same rate. Every time I called, same reply. I had no garage, and
summer was rapidly becoming fall. In the interim I had joined the MGOC
and called one of their advertisers (Ron Hopkinson). I had 2 complete
sill kits from 'ol Blighty in under 3 weeks, via USPS. Beaucoup
cheaper, too.
Since this was the first time I did any welding/metal work on any car,
I progressed very slowly & carefully, using Lindsay Porters book. The
sills were completely on the car when the last pieces dribbled in.
Gee, thanks. Sheesh. Still have them, actually.
