So, I was wondering about why one of my intake mainfold in the "boxes of
parts" was thinner.... so question, being thinner eared it also appeared
that the manifold distance from the carb to the head was shorter...by
what 1/4" or 1/8".... so, is this a performance, tunning, mixture
differnce of any significant magnitude here..... I was unsure so shyed
away from the thinner manifold, when putting the HIF4's on my '69B, it
runs ok, took some time to get the mixture right though... gave up on
colortune except to even htings out, and opted for plug color techniques...
anyway... anyone out there have a line on htis thinner maanifold
concept... I just thought it was a PO performance hack.... oh well....
HELP.....
. and yes...... the head come of this car this weekend........ on my way
to the local car club meet this evening, I lost a head gasket, hopefully
thats it... Compression is 150, 50, 50, 150..... and spitting a lot out of
the two and three when i compression check the sister cylinder...
, comments here..? this happened all of a sudden, drop in power, water
was 1/2 gallon low, and light on coolant, should have known better, but
these things happen...., it was only 35 degreees outside however, and it
didn't read anywhere near warm......
So, any guesses... compression was fine last week..., it happened in a 30
minute drive around towm...., Just gasket a possibility,,, hope, hope,,
crack or warpage, but it didn't get very hot...., anyway, I taek a spare
early head by a mchine chop to Magflux and clean in prep to re-do
tomarrow A.M. on the way in anyway, just in cas worst case scenario...
