Barrie, I have recently been attacking a whining from my rear end. I changed gears and then the rear end began to whine. My first approach was to correct a pinion angle that was too steep. By the time I did that the new pinion bearings were wasted. After replacoing them the whine was still there. So I have just had another set of gears installed. I have not reassmbled yet.
