Rick,
Do not put a harnesses in a non-roll bar car. If it should roll, there is
no way you will survive, strapped in. This is why SCCA and every other
racing organization prohibits harnesses in open, non-roll bar cars. I
believe, but an not sure, that SCCA even prohibits torso straps on open
cars.
A shoulder strap, like on a three point harness is considered fine because
you can escape to the side, but the top mount must be above shoulder height
to avoid spinal compression from downward pressure, in a crash.
