Tach Talk ( I like it !)

I am trying to convert a 4 cylinder tach to eight cylinder.    I have tried 
a method used by Martyn Harvey but it has become a physical fitting 
problem.  Can someone give the site for that mod on the circuitry to change 
the 4 to an eight using a potentiometer - I have the hard copy but cannot 
make out the pictures !!

Any experiences would be appreciated.
