Fuel lines

The nipple (376-415) and nut (376-405) that connects the fuel line to the 
fuel tank require a 5/16 pipe.

Question - Is this size sufficient for the Rover V8? - I assume the answer 
is yes.

Next question!  Presumably copper pipe is not as good as copper-nickel and 
my garage chap has suggested steel pipe.  Will copper-nickel solder to the 
nipple satisfactorily?
He says it will solder to steel but I was not aware that this would be a 
good bond.
