Yes and no.  There is a port on the inlet manifold for vacuum advance, and
leaving it open will adversely affect the mixture.

  A question for anyone who has seen this....I have a 79 MGB, and saw that I
had a vacuum advance diaphragm attached to the side of my distributor. The
hose connected to the unit ended at a solenoid valve bolted to the top of the
brake booster. From there a piece of hose was left to dangle off the other
side of the unit. On the ZS carb, there is no port for attachment, but there
is a port that is mounted to the engine manifold and it is open. I put my
finger over it and felt a vacuum. Is this the location for the manifold vacuum
to pull on the diaphragm from the distributor? Is is wise to leave the port
open otherwise?
