Since all is so quite right now, hows about a little speculation. Like I said
I don't have the engine out of my car yet so this is just for fun. I was
describing my blowup the other day, sounded like running over a rock and
bouncing it out the back. well something definately pierced the pan and there
is definately a chunk of block missing, but I never heard any signs of bearing
problems (knock etc). My best guess is that a rod actually snapped, but I
pulled the kill switch so fast that I didn't run it long enough to hear
anything. If the block is reweldable and the pan is fixed what do you think
are the odds of the block still being true and of being able to replace damaged
parts individually and avoid a rebuild on an engine with 1100miles on it.
Unfortunately I didn't build the engine, but from all the poking about I have
done the rebuild was done thouroughly and to a high standard, this is the other
thing that makes me think I had a part failure. So, best guesses and
speculations everyone... Later,James
