Approximate axle & prop-shaft costs?

Can anyone give me an idea of how much it costs to have an axle 
shortened, as well as a drive-shaft?  I'm still in the planning stages 
and trying to get a grip around the various labor costs.  For labor 
reference, I'm in the DC area.
