Craig,
Yes, something is very definitely wrong here, and I don't know just how to
correct it. Don Rausch is handling all subscription and advertising matters,
while I am the one that is actually putting the newsletter together. The
current (past due, actually) newsletter, the September - December issue, is
almost complete, needing only one vendors's advertisment data to be ready for
publication. With that exception, the newsletter has been ready for printing
since early September.
It is not my nature to complain, and most certainly not my nature to point
the finger of blame, but I feel that you and the other subscriber's are due
an explaination. I have been waiting since early September for that
advertiser's data, and for the subscription mailing list.
I was not happy at all with the repreduction quality or with the timeliness
of the last issue, so I decided to print and mail the newsletters myself,
rather than sending the master copy to Don for printing and distribution. I
even went so far as to invest a large sum of my own money in a high quality
printer so I could do that. I got an agreement with Don that we would handle
the newsletter that way, and he would send me all the required material -
advertiser's data, the mailing list, and a check to cover the postage. To
date, even after phone calls to Don, I have received none of these. Without
the mailing list, I cannot get the newsletter out, even if I were willing to
eat the cost of postage.
I have what I think is a very nice issue, ready to go, but it is just sitting
here for now. I don't know where the newsletter will go from here, but I will
try as hard as I can to keep it going. When I agreed to take over the
editor's duties, it was with the understanding that Don and Kurt Schley would
help keep me supplied with material for the newsletter. Kurt has been very
helpful in that regard, but I am running short of input. I am struggling for
material for the next issue, the January - April, 2002 issue.
Like I said, I really hate to air my dirty laundry, but the folks who have
paid their money have an explaination coming to them. In fact, they have
newsletters coming to them, but I don't know how to get them to them. Without
the mailing list, I simply can't get the newsletter out.
Regards, and my sincerest apologies,
Dan Masters
