My Rover V8 with its 5-speed gearbox is now installed in my beautiful GT shell.
Small problem. How the devil do you get the gear lever in its socket. I
had to get a new(old) one as the original got damaged. It's the little
nylon button with spring that I just cannot get in. Is there a prescribed
way of doing it? A special tool? or is it just sheer grunt? I can get
everything in fine without the spring but the spring and nub are obviously
there for a good reason like stopping rattling.
