Matt, Yes, I had to go with the GM water pump and a modified crank shaft pulley for my 1981 rover 3.5 engine. Another thing you'll need are a 45 degree angled connection to attach to your water pump to route water through your heater. I got the crank pulley and the connection piece from Glen Towery in Cheswold, DE. His phone number is 302 734 1243.
