Thanks Martyn.
These advance figures looks more like it should be.
However on the spec sheet it says advance kicks in
@ 2500. That looks rather late.
Did the operator fiddle with the distributor to get
optimum timing?
Lex.

hi Lex,
When I had my Rover 3.5 rebuilt we ran the car on a dyno. At the rear
wheels we obtained the following readings:
- max HP 174 at 6000 rpm
- max torque 174 at 4500 rpm
These readings were obtained with 12 degrees initial avance and a max
advance of 35 degrees.
The engine was rebuilt with:
- 9.75 vitesse pistons
- 262 Isky cam
-Offy dual port intake with Holley 390cfm carb
- block hugger headers (to fit into an MGB)
- single exhaust 2.5" bore with Flowmaster mufffler
- Crane electronic optical ignition
Hope this is useful.
Martyn
