I too have had the problem of my 2 V8s overheating here in the north Georgia
mountains. My solution was to have one of the Hot Rod shops in Atlanta add
48 3" louvers to the hood. I let one of my cars run for 15 minutes at idle
speed today when the temperature outside was 96 degrees. It only registered
3/4 over to the right of the gauge. I don't have anything more accurate to
measure the actual temperature, but before the louvers the car would have
been in the red after 10 minutes in these conditions. The 10" flex fan and
2 stock "pushers" keep plenty of hot air flowing out the top of the hood.
Should also help this winter with snow removal and windshield defogging.
Some MGB owners won't like the look of the louvers, but they can sit on the
side of the road letting their cars cool down while I drive by.
