Well, it turned out to be a loose grub screw on the back of the ignition
switch. As I suspended myself upside down, flashlight in my mouth and feet
pointed toward the garage ceiling, I noticed it. Tightened the screw, added
a spot of RTV to hold it a bit more firmly, and VOILA! ...no more miss!
