Further to my email below. I have been looking a the two screens I have and I
now don't think the new one I got (11 1/4" high) is for a centre mount screen
motor. It has two holes in the centre of the top rail 1 1/2" apart - but of
course if it was for a wiper motor it would need three holes. My origianl
screen (9 5/8" high) has two holes on the top rail 8" apart (in addition to
the wiper motor and pivot holes) which I think are for the wire clips aren't
they.
I am now wondering if the new screen is for a Y tourer or a TC or some other
MG - does anyone know of a MG screen that is 11 1/4" high? In pictures I have
looked the scuttle brackets for these cars all look the same - are they all
the same?

My TD is a 1952 chassis # 11368 with a two bow top.
I am having major windscreen problems. Car is all trimmed ready for a new
bespoke hood to be made. However, when we tried to fit up the original screen
it would not sit right - car has been rolled at some point and scuttle
brackets were out of shape. We were working on trying to straighten things
out
when a complete second hand TD screen became available in Australia and I
bought it thinking this might be the simpler option.
However, I have now discovered thee new screen and the original are different
the one that came with my car is 9 5/8 high at the centre and the one I
bought is 11 1/4. Also the new screen has the windscreen motor mounting
holes
in the centre while the original was mounted at one side. I see from the Moss
catalogue that the wiper positioned changed at car 22315 so I guess the
original screen is correct for my car.
So question one is: did the screen height change at the same time as the
wiper
moved or has my original screen been shortened?
Question two is: can I fit the later screen to my car with the two bow top?
If
yes will I need to get new side curtain frames?
I guess my fall back position is to try the scuttle mounts that came with the
screen I bought in Australia with my original screen frame.
