Douglas,
What I use to lubricate is Lubriplate white lithium grease. Any grease is
waterproof, but Lubriplate is light enough that it works its way into most
places. I wipe grease over all mating surfaces and pack enough around to
still be there in a year or two. DO NOT completely pack the gear case with
it, as I have seen several motors nearly ruined from too much grease
migrating into the electrics from over-filling. Just a moderate dollop will
do nicely.

Just fixing up my TD wiper motor - which I understand is more for show than
function.
Innards of gearbox all look good and it was filled with a mixture of
different, fairly solid greases. The restoration book says it should be
lubricated with a light waterproof grease. My question is should it be
packed
full, or just smeared around the mating surfaces?
Cheers
Douglas
