I have reached the point in my '53 TD resto that I need to crank the
engine. Can anyone provide a checklist of electricals, etc that need to
be hooked up and a procedure list for cranking this engine? It was
cranked outside of the car by PO approximately 2 1/2 years ago and has
documented <25,000 miles on the engine. It has all new hoses and belt,
rebuilt radiator, added spin-on oil filter and adapter, and
professionally rebuilt carbs. The distributor was removed during cleanup
but replaced in as exact an alignment as possible.
Any advice appreciated. I have never cranked an engine sitting idle for
this length of time and want to avoid damaging it. I know you TD gurus
out there know the proper procedures and I'm smart enough to know when
to ask for help.
Thanks,
Bill Snyder
