Larry,
Like Jesus, I used a hydraulic press to remove the bearings from the
armature shaft. If you don't have the fcilities to do that, I would
suggest that you find a auto electric shop in your area and have them
remove the bearing and perhaps inatall a new one. If you haven't
already purchased a new bearing, shop around as necessary to get one
that is double sealed, which will eliminate the need to periodically
lubricate it. While you have the generator apart, replace the bushing
in the rear plate also as it is undoubtly worn and can cause damage to
the armature if it wears excessively. You should also read my article
on using the proper fan belt and keeping it loose to avoid excessive
wear on the rear bushing and the water pump bearings. the article is
at: http://www.omgtr.ca/technical/tdtf_fan_belt/loosen_up.htm
Good luck,
Dave
