I sent the below to Blake (Bullwinkle) and had him check his archives.

Abingdon Spares is now listing an alternative Crankshaft Oil Thrower,
supposedly for late TD/TF engines. It's their part #5-24A at $16.00 versus 5-24
at $4.76. My Service Parts List (AKD 834) doesn't show any alternatives, just
X15027. Do you have anything else listed in your vast array of documentation?
I'm going to be replacing the crank pulley (hairline crack) and I'm thinking of
going all the way back to the oil thrower if it's worthwhile doing. My engine
is a late 53 series XPAG/TD2/28839. TIA.

Closest thing that Blake could find was from Neil Cairns' Book (Engines for
MG's, Chapter 3, Modifications During Production):
"34) The TF had gone, the 4/44 the sole user of the 'X'
series of engines, with the BMC 'A; and 'B' series taking
over. On XPAW/20901 the timing chain oil thrower was
enlarger from 2.6" to 2.812 to try to reduce oil leaks at
the front end."
Can anyone else shed some light on this question? Thanks.
