A recent issue of the Octagon Car Club Bulletin, a British publication,
includes a letter on sticking tappets. It mentions that tight tappets cause
fast wear. A sticking cam follower may also rattle.
Reference is made to a Mr. George Edney, who modifies the tappets. A grinding
disc is used to cut a shallow oil groove between each upper and lower oil hole
in the followers. Two grooves are slightly clockwise and two are
anti-clockwise on each follower.
Does anyone have experience with grinding grooves in the tappets?
