Hi from New Zealand
Having reached the rolling chassis stage I am now rebuilding the gearbox on
my 52 TD. It is not too bad, but first gear is badly worn and will need to
be replaced. My machine shop man can make and graft on a new one to the
cluster, and also make a new mate for it (the other gears are fine).
However, this has been done once already - and it looks like a pretty rough
job. I am a bit worried that the overall length of the cluster may not be
correct - there were shims at each end between the end plates and casing. So
does anyone have a original cluster gear lying around on their bench that
they could measure the overall length for me - or even better know of a data
source that would give me the measurement.
Thanks
Douglas
