As long as you put the pistons and its rings back into the bore from which
it came, it'll be OK. You could, with a little more dismantling, check the
piston ring end gaps. To do this, remove the piston and slip 3 pieces of
feeler under the ring. First one goes opposite the end gap, the other 2
either side of it. Then work these 2 little by little towards the end gap,
thus expanding the ring. You will then be able to slip the ring off the
piston. Repeat for the other rings. Put the ring into the cylinder and use
the piston to push it into position. This will ensure that it is 'square'.
Test the ring end gap at different depths within the bore.Check all rings.
If its constant you've proved there is no taper in the bore. Max wear
occurs at top and bottom of the bore ie as the piston changes direction.
Also refer to manual to check the tolerance on the ring end gap.
I dont agree that the rings rotate. Make sure that when the piston is
reassembled in the cylinder, the piston end gaps are 'staggered' at 120
degrees for a 3 ring piston or 90 degrees for a 4 ring.
