When you say replica Thermostat/housing are you talking about the original
configuration where the thermostat had a cylinder attached to it which
extended down to the bypass hose outlet, which when cold covered the bypass
hose outlet and when warm allowing coolant circulation through the rad?.
Most of the TD owners I know ( including myself) use a standard thermostat
having machined the housing to suit, and also carried out the modification
of installing a restrictor in the bypass hose itself which forces more water
through the rad and thereby helping the cooling process. Installing a
restrictor is not rocket science and it has been discussed on this list.
