I had a similar problem on my 51TD and at the time I had a Kenlowe Electric
fan on the engine side of the radiator, following some notes on the digest I
removed the electric fan and went back to the original set up and put a
restrictor in the bypass hose forcing more water through the rad. The engine
is definitely running cooler although the change over has only been done a
couple of months.
Some friends of mine have installed electric fans on their TFs but in
between the radiator and the grill. To do this you must us a fan rotating in
the correct direction so that it blows the air through the rad. This is
something you could try using a fan from a breakers yard.
You might also check that the rad slats are correctly positioned.
