Hi All,
I'm ready to re-pack the front wheel bearings on my TD. I've already
searched the archives and have read the comments on earlier posts
regarding the proper technique. My question: When I disassembled the
front hubs & withdrew the front bearings, the bell-shaped cavity
surrounding the spacer between inner and outer bearings was filled with
grease. Is this necessary as a 'reservoir' from which grease may be
drawn ? If not, is this overkill ? Does this cavity serve any purpose
(other than spacing to make up thickness for the hub ?
Thanks in advance for all your insight and assistance.
